Apparently he did have more faith in him while others did not...so who knows I suppose. These scans were given to me by Robohell from the Robo Archive:

Interesting, not only Ahnuld but Pier Luigi Basile as production designer and Ron Cobb as concept artist.

I thought the movie was allright, tough I felt a little absurd in the violence. Some moments very gory and next scene the wounds have dissapeared like in a cartoon... Like in the scene of the giant drill that practically rips up the flesh of Arnie's arms and then, VOILA! he's allright gain. scratch

Maybe a less action movie would have been better because the concept was very interesting, the old alien civilization, the mind games, the nature of reality and all that crap would have made a highly interesting story. Nothing like the actual short tale, in truth, which I read some years ago and only takes the first part of he movie, when Quaid goes into the false memory shop and then he wakes up in rage because something went wrong in the process. The end of the tale is in the same shop -nothing about mars- when a race of dwarf aliens come to earth to reveal Quaid os the Chosen One or some shit like that. Rolling Eyes Pkdick shouldn't have smoke so much... Each time I read something fom him I feel like he is better dead. Poor bastard. Razz

He looks more like maria shriver than himself in that Total Recall poster, lol. With regards to the wounds, I always felt it was a dream, and I think that was the obvious plotline.

Another relation with Milius' CTB: the main theme by Jerry Goldsmith pretty much copies Basils "Anvil of Crom"...

It's more an hommage because Poledouris had just signed the score of the two previous films of Verhoeven (Flesh+Blood & RoboCop), so when Jerry Goldsmith came to work with Verhoeven (later he will do Basic Instinct and Hollow Man again for him) he put it as a reference to Poledouris.

Verhoeven also stated that CONAN was his favorite movie. There's a love scene pose in TOTAL, with Arnold and Stone, which looked nearly copied from Arnold and Sandahl. Maybe MightyMcT can give us a visual. rambo
