| They are doing it ! They are actually giving a prequel to the (alleged) prequel !!! What the heck am I talking about, you say ? I'm talking about " The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian ", the prequel to the original Scorpion King movie with The Rock. Except, this time, there's no more Dwayne Johnson. Only a younger version of Mathayus. Great ! Just what the world needed : a Young Scorpion King ! (and probably based on the PS2 videogame....) What's next ? The " Young Conan Adventures", maybe ? Let me say it here and now : this doesn't smell too good regarding the next Conan movie we're all expecting ! Full details here : http://www.darkhorizons.com/news07/071018b.php Shit ! | |

I think Turd or Dan, would cast Paul Walker and Jessica Biel. Maybe work in Will Farrel as Conan's dad, and Jessica Alba as Conan's mom, just an idea.

| One last thing to note: the movie is directed by Russell Mulcahy, of "Highlander" fame... | |

| I forgot to mention, Rutger Hauer as Thulsa Doom and Boaz Yakin & Akiva Goldsman as writers for a shot for shot remake. | |

The first one was good, was a mix of Conan and Terminator. I did enjoy THE SHADOW, had decent directing and actors and a wonderful score by Jerry Goldsmith. I think if was less campy it couldve been an excellent movie, as it had the potential to be a dark anti-hero film.. but was lighthearted and a bit weak. I also liked the 1930's setting in THE SHADOW.

| The first Highlander movie... I would have loved a movie entirely placed in ancient Scotland, with the clan fights and the immortals kicking their asses... It was years before Braveheart and it could have really interesting. The training part with Sean Connery was just too short, for me the best part of the movie. But, man, that was probably the best effort Lambert could do, poor boy. I'm sure the director said to Connery -"Please, control yourself, don't be too good... You know, this boy is suppossed to be the main character, but...well, it's his first movie, i'm sure he will be better in later movies". He wasn't. A entire movie dedicated to the immortals in the past would have been better. Fo me, the modern times fights aren't that exciting. But, well, sure, they are cheaper to film. The Kurgan's armor was sooo cool. I remember I loved the highlander tv series... Compared with the sequels, it was superb. But objetively I think it was not that good, really. Hey, do you remember any reference to "CONAN THE BARBARIAN" in the Highlander movie? I'm trying to finde some for the videogames and movies works i'm writting, but I just can't find a decent one. | |

| I liked the first Highlander movie when I saw it short after it was released. But since then, I have seen a lot of Japanese chambara movies. I realized how Christophe Lambert was ridiculous with a katana in hand...Adrian Paul is a martial artist (Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Kickboxing and Kendo) and even if the TV series had a lower budget and wasn't great, at least HE knows how to hold this kind of sword.
Gimme a Lone wolf and cub or a Sword of Doom anytime.

| 10-15 years ago, I thought Adrian Paul wouldve made a great Kull or Bran Mak Morn, and even a James Bond. | |

| Just for the record, Highlander (which I kind of like too) was not Christophe's first movie: he had already starred in Greystoke (in which he was great) and a few other titles... (including Luc Besson's second effort, Subway) _________________ .[img][/img]

| Greystoke was not bad at all. And the apes could look ridiculous in some moments if you compare them with the real animal, but I liked them. It was not realistic, but a good performance. Lambert was not bad, yeah, but only as a nude ape. When he gets dressed, the movie fails... London was boring, until he frees his ape-father. Then, boring again. - Quote :

Yes. I remember the first episode of Highlander series, where Adrian is about to have a fight an evil immortal, and then Lambert appears and says "Wait, cousin, he's mine". It's like Lambert is the experienced master and is going to show his little cousin how to fight. And... He doesn't even know how to hold the sword... Look. He has both hands holding the handle of the sword. That is wrong. (I'm not an expert so I will try to explain as clear as I can ) The sword must be hold with both hands, yes, but: Right hand must be as up in the handle as you can, touching the collar -where the guard is. Left hand must be at the end of the handle (the pommel), the little finger should be outside of the handle, touching the bottom of the pommel. Like this: Anyway, it's a common mistake. Paul also does it WRONG here: And Lambert, surprise!, does it RIGHT here: But even when Paul has technical mistakes he still looks tougher and stronger than Lambert. He looks better holding WRONG the katana than Lambert doing it right. Also Lambert moves slower than Schwarzenegger in Conan, who is three times bigger than Lambert and in comparison is a feline. Look, how so little dangerous Lambert looks here: Compare him with Paul. He could kick Lambert's ass with a puff. Also, Lambert has only TWO faces. Face number one: Neutral. -(With that he express sadness, anger, concentration, relaxation, love, desire, and every dramatic feeling). Face number two: Cute boy smile. -(With that he expresses... hmmm... Well, he expresses "Yeah I do act like the ass, but... hey, am I not cute?")

| Hold your horses, Cromulus ! Ron Perlman only did the Conan voice for the "Red Nails" animated movie (byt the way, I think I found the very first moving images of Red Nails - see the French board for more)... | |
