Apparently is post-dinosaurs, so most probably this beast fed on big mammals. Amazing the comparison with a modern anaconda, this prehistoric monster was gigantic!!!!!!!! I can really visualize it pretty similar to the one from the film -minus the fangs-.

Still, it wasn't really that long, as modern pythons also can have that same lenght. But it's reasonable, 40 feet is enough I guess, for a creature that has no legs...

How long was the puppet from the movie?

36 feet, according to the Cinefantastique article.

Well, mostly because the pet was still young, surely it would have been longer with a nice diet of drugged virgins

So this TITANOBOA would have been fairly similar to the one in the film, minus the fangs

Yeah an obvious hoax, sure. Still is amazing to realize this beast did exist once.
