| Yeah, we should get someone in California to go to all the conventions and do short interviews. I really dont have the time or money to go around following celebrities to be conducting those things like some fanatic. Milius, however should be made aware of this site and hang out here with some of us lowforeheads and even put us in our places for being wayward from time to time. Pity he's got no memory of edited scenes-- even of the Valeria pit-fighter scenes, very strange... | |

| Thanks for the post!
That's a great pity, when he says "he didn't even know there WAS a cult" people like us take great pride in even knowing about the masterpiece he created! He was probably generalizing the Spaniards though.
There HAS to be a 25th Anniversary of Conan the Barbarian, there HAS to be!

That was a long time ago, nothing strange. And I think we already know almost all of the deleted scenes (with all the old interviews and exclusive photos). But other questions would be very interesting to ask him, for sure. Me too, I hope one day he'll visit this Web site, like Bill Stout did.....

| Of course there is the time/ age factor involved and its a perfectly valid and logical consideration and perhaps honest simple truth-- however I would've thought because it may not of been his ideal cut/edit of the film due to producers all the post production edits to get it down to a certain running time and rating that he would've perhaps remembered a lot more or had his own special cut especially going by some of the comments from the magazines. Really I suppose he did have his own cut(the "Moby Dick" scene seemingly I suppose right?) and the wanting of the original Arnold/Conan narration voice over. I remember back in 2002 or 2003 I emailed Basil Paledouris and Arnold's site, sadly Basil passed away but I received word from the webmaster of Arnold's site that it was a good email and he agreed with that Conan was Arnold's greatest movie and that he would pass it along to Arnold-- but Arnold was on his way to becoming Governor at around that time and before that was filming T3 so he much to busy to probably ever reply to me of course. Its cool though I mean I'm just a casaul great fan of these people and their work so I dont expect the world from them in return or anything like that and well I just shoot the shit here. I think Mighty contacted the guy Frenchman that put together the CONAN UNCHAINED doc, and he said something like that all the footage was lost in some kinda fire--but its been a while since that email so I could be wrong. | |

| Burned ? I don't think so, but I may be mistaken too (you know, the time/age factor... ). I think the guy just said that all the deleted scenes were put in the Conan Unchained document, the others do not exist, he found nothing more, but I doubt whether he sought enough (because that doesn't exist ). Maybe one day, we'll have an extended version (or a director's cut ) , full of new documentaries.... hope springs eternal. Dino is no more, so John may now add naked girls, dead bodies, rivers of blood... and possibly his cameo. | |

| yeah maybe true. But I kinda see a difference is I'm just a movie watcher and fan. It would be like a professor forgetting his own research from 20-30 years ago or something after the student asks him about it. But I dont know, it is surprising directors dont have their own edit somewhere, maybe they do but they cant release cause of the studio or something but I'm no expert with Hollywood and its many strange ways. I think Mighty and I were once talking about similar things some years back, but with Richard Donner and Superman movies--but they eventually afterward released the Donner Cut for Superman II. Maybe we should prey something similar occurs for CONAN, there seems to be good fan and appreciation base but not enough studio and hype interest as those Superman movies unfortunately. | |

| Agreed, and I remember hearing someone talk about it in such a way that it felt like, "We had no idea that film would be successful or not, and the stuff we cut out wasn't regarded as important or needed. It fell to the cutting room floor as we assembled the final product, and since it couldn't be used we didn't keep it." At least that is the general feeling I had from stuff someone once said about it. I can't remember where or who, or if it as even this film.... but it is a window to what might have been going on in their minds at the time. | |

| Yeah we are right now hungered fans... asking for some food. Since no new food exists, we can only dream about it... but the chances are really really few guys, let's be realistic. Ok dreaming is free though, of course. But there's really no true clue to believe that material actually exists. Also, since this upcoming momoapieceofshit is already known to be something pretty far away from what we really need, the hunger for more on the original source increases twice. Imo, best we can do is trying to find new facetes and ways of watching the classic, because no new thing is gonna come. We the community here have done an awesome work here through these last years, enough to hold the movie as it always was: a true classic, way better than how it is normally considered. That is our legacy, and to us the original source is more powerful and richer than for other people. That is a lot. I know that if tonight I watch the movie for the 300th time, I will love it again and I will find something new. That will be a better experience than watching the new conan crap. But there's a truth here, men... The time passed away. Even if Milius made a new Conan today, it wouldn't be the same thing. It was 1982 and that was the time for that movie to be made. Time cannot be repeated. We must accept that. We have nostalgia and we want to experience that first time view again but that's impossible. We are closer to archeologists than anything. Wich is nice. But this is all very romantic rather than realistic. Wich is also nice. Yet I just wanted to land the feet on the ground for a while... cause so many responsibles on the movie passed away already, that is clear we are all in love with something that today doesn't exist and cannot really create anything else. What we have is what we have... and it's actually more than enough. Hope I'm wrong, though, with all my heart. | |
