PROMETHEUS RECORDS and TADLOW MUSIC have edited a 2 CDS version of the CTB soundtrack. Re-recorded in Prague, it tries to fix what the original version we all own didn't was Basil's pleasure. Apparently he wanted more musicians and more instruments. This time, it has been recorded following his desire.

Man you have a video of the recording session there (vocal chorus not added yet), and also some audio bits in one of the links.

Excellent find find. I miss Basil alot. Cant believe many of the talent from Conan has passed away during this decade alone.

A comrade in the Spanish forum already heard it, and say it's superb.
Quality is incredible. And also some previously unreleased tracks have been recorded too (like the "Cantiga" from the Tower of Set). Of course we already knew them from the bootlegs but this time we have them in a top quality version.
Also, it's great to have a new version of the old classic tracks. Same music, but different enough to our ears to enjoy it again as it was the first time. :) That's the best part of this.
Apparently the only "defect" is the booklet is kinda cheesy and uninspired... but well, who cares, as long as the audio content is as good as it seems it indeed is!

I heard some tracks and it definitely sounds superb. Different enough to the main version to enjoy it and be surprised. Yet I found myself judging it a little but then I realized I was stupidly specting it to sound exactly the same as the other one. It definitely sounds great, and powerful.

I agree with everything you said turd. I really wanted it to be *perfect*, but I realized soon into it that that's unrealistic for an orchestra recording.
For years I searched out a decent "copy" of Carmina Burana that matched the tempo from the version used for Exaclibur. eventually I bought one I liked, though it was still off a little, and i learned to love it just as much.
This ST has it's pros and cons, but it is a great addition. I don't lament having bought it virtually sight unseen. Got it the day before my birthday, and it made the whole even that much more festive.

I wish they'd put Flaming Turd's old ID photo on the cover of the CD - you know, that sweet little baby we all loved so much...

Interestinly enough the soundtrack suffered from the same sorta thing that occurred with the cut/ lost or destroyed footage. There is many tracks absent from both official versions of the soundtrack released officially. Some site had some info on the lost pieces from the score, supposedly( I think if I remember correctly) they were "lost" during transport from one studio to another or during shipment to the USA or something like this. Rather surprised nobody released an updated soundtrack before say circa 1995 or 2000. Just many bootlegs, some of which contain unused themes, even for CTD.

Hm, yeah, probably the rise of Internet had something to do with that. Probably somebody realized how many people was actually interested on getting a complete soundtrack and was able to recover the missing pieces from some rare source. Wich btw I still totally ignore wich could be. I suspect the bootleggers recovered the missing tracks from the audio track of a film, wich is a separated one than the voices track. That would explain why some sound effects can be heard in certain rare tracks from the bootleg. Probably it was made from several sources though. The bootleger should have added that info on the cd, that would have been a pretty interesting story. Weird. Basil surely had to had some of rare material in his personal archive, I suppose... His daughter was involved in the production of this new soundtrack, somehow.

Curious to listen to a couple of samples from the new twin CD ? I got this link on the conan.com forum :
effectively,as some noticed, some tracks sound 3d and have a lot of body, while some others sound rather flat and uninspired (not many). The worst being the bonus track from Conan the Destroyer, played in the most boring fashion.

Haha, I don't lift weights, I'm more a quick mover than a power guy. Though not as fast as when I was younger. Not only gold that loses it's lustre haha;). I listen to the score when I'm doing my own 'kata' type training with axe or knife:)
