| Hope You all have a nice Christmas. I have a little webside for spanish movie locations. Western related, but as I really like CONAN, I made a lot of locations photos for Conan. After a good christmas meal with your family you might wanna relax with some photos? Here you find them: http://www.western-locations-spain.com Cuenca, Almeria,...etc!

| Thanks for the nice Welcome guys. I don't speak any french but can of course see that your side is great and done with heart.....powered by Crom...! I recently found the Cueva where they filmed several Conan Scenes. The "Cueva de Roque" is pretty close to Almeria and is already listed on my webside. It was impossible to get inside (grrrr) but I made some outside photos. So Part 2 is "under construction". Part 3 will be tough. Have several ideas for the Wheel of Pain but the Avila area is a long ride by car from my usual start Almeria and I have never been there before. Its one of my dreams for next year. | |

| In the CtB page on imdb.com, it says the filming locations include British Columbia. Does anyone know what scenes were filmed there or did they end up on the cutting room floor? |

Texas,if thats true..the only thing I can think of is perhaps a pick-up shots or for the unused ending-- When Conan and Subotai ride off on horseback each going in their own direction after the return of the Princess Yasmina. I know that scene was to be filmed in the USA though. But Never heard of Conan being filmed in Canada.

| Maybe the confusion comes from the fact that Canada was once considered as shooting place for Conan the Barbarian, like Yugoslavia, Germany, etc... . Perhaps - Quote :
- After budgeting, he (Dino) tried to find the right country to do it, but something always happened. (...) In Canada, there were problems with the tax structure. (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Prevue Magazine, May 1982)
Mistakes on Imdb are legion....

| Sven, yes thats a good possibility and probably the most likely. Also can't forget Red China as another possible location . | |

I knew for Canada, Italy, Russia, Germany (Black Forest) and Yugoslavia. But Red China ? I never heard about this possibility... Could you quote your source, please ?

| Sure , Amra v2 #69. *I think the list of directors is about as long as the list of locations... well maybe the directors list is a bit longer... | |

"Some thought is being given to shooting some sequences even in Red China, where the most unusual and beautiful mountains on Earth can be found."

| Bill Warren the author of that article, also mentioned Sam Peckinpah as being considered as Director, as were John Boorman and Franklin Schaffner (PATTON) and others. | |

| Hmmm.... very strange. This source is suspect, really. I think I'm not going to use it, I prefer contemporary sources. Moreover, to my knowledge neither Pressman nor Summer ever talked about that. | |

| Well personally I have no reason to think the information is suspect from that article. *But good news, alas I think I know where that IMDB mistake (?) comes from (can't believe it slipped my mind earlier too ) From Prevue Magazine v2 #27 Arnold also mentions that after Yugosalvia was finally dropped, Dino had good relations with the Russians and was friends with the Russian army, so Russia was briefly toyed with, he goes on to mention Canada was considered but dropped because of tax problems with the whole tax structure of that country, also that Italy was considered highly possible, but Milius was more familiar and had a preference with Spain | |

Well, I learned at least one thing with my studies in History : to be critical with informations. THE question is : Is Bill Warren the only one guy who mentioned Red China and Peckinpah/Boorman/Schaffner as possible directors ? If yes, I can't use the source with serenity...

| Here's the exact quote for ya(From that Prevue issue):
Schwarzenegger: "After budgeting, he (Dino) tried to find the right country to do it in, but something always happened. In Yugoslavia, Tito died, and the situation was too dangerous. Then, Dino was going to Russia, because he is very good friends with the whole Russian Army. In Canada, there were problems with the tax structure. Italy became one of the possibilities. But Milius was familiar with Spain, because he'd shot THE WIND AND THE LION there and had a preference for it. So, we ended up in Spain. As far as I'm concerned, it was the ideal place for the part."
