| Though now that it is done, I'm kind of left wondering whether or not it would have been a really good idea to actually put it back into the movie... To me, it seems that almost all the movie is seen (and basically told) from Conan's point-of-view. All the way along, we see what he sees, and know what he knows... But, if reinstated, the King's Death scene would have been the only one not adopting Conan's p.o.v. I think the scene was supposed to happen right after when Conan recovers his strenght (and soul) from the Tree of Woe, well, at least according to the novelization... But the more I think about it, and the more I think it would not have fit very well into the narrative structure, kind of putting the Conan's story on pause (for the one and only time in the whole movie) and saying "in the meantime, let's see what's happening back in Shadizar..." See my point? _________________ .[img][/img]

| Well Akiro's narration puts a different perspective on things for sure. The Script and original film is far more epical and storybook like. The cut film is a fast paced fantasy film. Theirs a obvious difference of course. Akira mentions that Osric is still alive at the end of the movie..which doesnt work following the script and cut footage..had to be a last minute change and probably done in post production in one of Milius cuts, cause he went in another direction .
But yes,in the 2nd Draft script right after we see Conan's hands clench with Recovery sequence, it cuts directly to King Osric's Palace back in Shadizar.
Can only work if Yaro was still in the movie, cause it was Yaro that was there not Rexor. Yaro finally gets back to the Temple sometime before Conan and company attacked Thulsa Doom's stronghold. So obviously the three theives were planning and scouting out Doom's weakness and layout which probably took some time. In the movie Conan jumps from Recovery to the raid essentially overnight. | |
