Just seen John Rambo. The beginning of Saving private Ryan is like Sesame Street in comparison.

I like how Stallone inserted from Greco-Roman mythology into the character, he was like Charon the boatman of the River of Death and Hephaestus the god of the forge.

Relating RAMBO more with the Milius' Movie CTB, also would be nice to find some Will Stout's storyboards for FIRST BLOOD, also...

and offered a high count of money but Frazetta said "no", as he was used to.

Interesting pictures Turd. I do wonder whether Milius' "Half the Sky" picture was rolled into CONAN, scriptwise and if so how much. Supposedly Milius was working in Yeti and various other Ice Age creatures into the script which became to look more like a CONAN movie, before he finally accepted the picture. I never read the FIRST BLOOD novel, however can we assume David Morrell's book may of had some influence on Milius.

I really liked Rambo. The only disadvantage I would say it is:
- a little bit short
- Stallone never took that damn shirt off. At least he could have done it in the end, when it is all over. In the first film he also doesn`t it (except the scenes in the city), that may be the reason and he don`t want to be too clichèd, but still that missed, at least in my opinion.
But still, the movie made 8 of 10.

From all the late sequels of the big hits in the 80ies- Terminator, Rambo, Rocky and Indiana Jones, I was always a little bit worried they might ruin their legacy- IMO only Indiana Jones IV sucked.

Terminator 3 was really cool, with a very surprising ending; Rocky Balboa I was worried the most turned out to be a worthy sequel, John Rambo was just great, but Indiana Jones... what the hell were the guys thinking that directed that movie?

Stallone as Ancient Age Warrior, were this picture comes from? From the look of his body, it must be before Rocky III and First Blood.

It comes from the Muppet Show (Don't tell anybody, but as a little kid I didn't want to be Conan, I wanted to be Kermit the Destroyer) .

I'll keep the secret.

His performance in the Muppet Show was used in Rambo III. Jim Hanson redubbed the footage to say "Rocky Balboa" instead of "Sylvester Stallone" with Kermit's voice.
