Conan to be remade

I've heard news that Hollywood has decided to remake the classic 1982 film of CONAN. I have no idea who will play Conan and if the remake will be of the 1982 film or will it have a different story.
My ideal cast for CONAN is Brian Thompson as Conan, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Thulsa Doom, Kane Kosugi as Subotai, Gordon Liu as The Wizard and Diane Kruger as Valeria.
It wasn't a easy cast to come up with.

It wasn't easy coming up with my ideal cast. Still i think Chiwetel Ejiofor would make a excellent Thulsa Doom and Diane Kruger would make a good Valeria. Still it would be good if Arnold has a Cameo role as either Conan's Father or King Osric.

I thought Christopher Lee or Frank Langella wouldve made a far better Thulsa Doom. The casting of James Earl Jones I think was more a Star Wars cash in. Doom was supposed to be a sexy and lean fit man with dark good looks, with powerful commanding brown eyes. When Milius cast Jones, he re-did the entire character, quite drastically,a nd his first choice was Sean Connery.. the character description was possibly modeled on him .

*Howards Thulsa Doom was more Skeletor anyway.

They will most likely go with Thoth-Amon rather than Thulsa Doom, also I have a feeling their version of Conan will be like the Scorpion King film, with Amon being like Arnold Vosloo's Hemotep character.

Do you think Diane Kruger would make a good Valeria?

Diane Kruger isnt my cup of tea, I really dont care for her, nor think she's got the athletic ability to pull off the role. So to me she doesnt look the female warrior type.

One of the Original choices for Valeria was Raquel Welch.

I know Sandahl was very much interested in playing Belit in a Conan sequel, we got to see her with black hair in Red Sonja.

...But I really dont know Dan, your cast may be alright, I really have given up on Conan movies. There arent that many good actors around, these parts are also mostly physical. My gues it seems casting will most likely come by way of wrestlers and bodybuilders. I remember early on for casting of "KING CONAN" Milius was looking at some unkown male model for the part of Conan's replacement and son, Conn/Kon, and Arnold wanted The Rock Johnson, Milius was toying with Vin Diesel and Triple H.

Unknowns may ultimately be best.

If you even want to be true to Howard's CONAN character look-wise, your gonna have to make him look almost ape-like, cause his face is always horibbly described, skin like tanned leather, so am thinking Prosthetics and make-up. The CONAN.com fans love the idea of Ron Perlman in a rubber muscle suit,lol.

Hollywood seems to be remaking a lot of famous movies of lately. Hollywood should bring the classic 1980's fantasy adventure cartoon series ''THUNDARR THE BARBARIAN'' to the big-screen. I think Sven-Ole Thorsen would make a good Ookla the Mok.

Diane Kruger was my 2nd choice for Valeria, I originally thought of Holly Valance as Valeria. I liked her in DOA: DEAD OR ALIVE. Her character Christie Allen was a thief and master assassin who was also a martial-artist.
Watching my DVD of CONAN THE BABARBARIAN, Valeria kind of reminded me of Christie Alllen. Maybe Valeria was the insperiation for the character?!!

My choice for Belit would be Maria Grazia Cucinotta, I liked her performance in the James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough", to me it was the best scene.

I know her. THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH is one of my favourite 007 films. Very Beautiful with a beautiful body. My favourite 007 films are: Dr. No, Thunderball, Live and Let Die, License to Kill, GoldenEye, The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day and Casino Royale.
Daniel Craig is a good actor.

Maria is sexy and deadly looking, and has the right amount of maturity and sexiness.

As long as belit has the qualities of the comics and Valeria movie version.

As far as CONAN himself, it will always be Steve Reeves for my ideal choice. To bad there's no one alive today with the right looks and charisma as him, he was fantastic.

Steve Reeves could had been a good CONAN. If CONAN had been made in the 1960's or 1970's i could imagine the cast: Lou Ferrigno as Conan, Yaphet Kotto as Thulsa Doom, Jackie Chan as Subotai, Pat Morita as The Wizard and Caroline Munro as Valeria.

I could imagine British actor Sam Troughton, Grandson of late Dr. Who Patrick Throughton, as the cowardly thief Malak from ''CONAN THE DESTROYER'' His character Much in ''Robin Hood'' reminds me a bit of Malak.
Sam should be the next Dr. Who when David Tennant leaves.

According to Gerry Lopez, Jackie Chan was indeed interested in the Subotai part for the John Milius movie. And Lou Ferrigno was also supposed to be some "Auxiliary Bad Guy" in Conan the Barbarian, at some (early) point.

Slyvester Stallone was a "stand-by" Conan too. Remember that line in "Tango & Cash" from Stallone to that crazy killer in the cell?! It was something like , "I loved you in Conan the Barbarian." HAHA made me wonder back then.

Wonder how far nick Nolte got? That was about as bad as Frank McRae as Thulsa Doom,hahaha.

Still, I think Holly Valance would make a good Valeria. She looks good with a sword. She should be Valeria in the remake.

CONAN isn't the only Robert E. Howard classic film to be remade. HOLLYWOOD is also planning to remake RED SONJA which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bridgette Nielsen.

I don't know who would make a good RED SONJA, i only saw the movie once and that was a long time ago. I've never seen KULL THE CONQUERER. I do not know who would make a good RED SONJA for the remake, but i have a few ideas.
Red Sonja could be played by either Alicia Witt or Bryce Dallas Howard or Sandra Hess or Amy Dumas or Milla Jovovich or Eva Green or Elisha Cuthbert...

I am actually thrilled Hollywood has decided to remake the classic CONAN THE BARBARIAN movie from 1982. CONAN is a great movie. With the technology and make-up effects we've got today. I think in the remake, it would be good if the Skeleton fights Conan in single-combat like in the original screenplay.

Again its not in the screenplays. This story was invented by DeCamp btw, not sure if the CONAN purist want non-Howard material...
