More movies like Conan.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any movies similar to Conan. I already know of Kull the Conqueror and Red sonja.

So, you mean movies of the "barbarian" genre?

"Beastmaster", "Sword and the Sorcerer", "Deathstalker", "Ator", "Masters of the Universe"...

Check out "Highlander", "Legend", "Excalibur", "Dragonslayer", "Willow", "KRull" (not Kull)....

But some of those are not too goof movies, though.

If you want some quality movies with true primal and barbarian feel, then you need to go to Akira Kurosawa films ("Sanjuro", "7 Samurai", "Yojimbo", etc...). They directly inspired the "Conan the barbarian" movie, and are absolutely awesome.

You need to watch Eisenstein's Alexander Nevsky. It inspired Milius for CtB, and Prokofiev's score for said movie was a BIG influence on Poledouris.

Yeah and check out also "THE VIKINGS" starring Kirk Douglas and directed by Richard Fleisher -who directed Conan the Destroyer and Red Sonja-. That movie was way better than his Conan ones.

The original "Spartacus" movie also with Douglas was excellent.

"Braveheart" and "Apocalypto" of Mel Gibson were very decent movies with a close Conan connection.

Don't forget "13th warrior" of Mctiernan.

And definitely check out some other John Milius' movies like "Wind and the Lion" and "Farewell to the King", and also the HBO "Rome" tv series wich was also written by Milius.
