| It's released, at least in Spain it was released january 1. Haven't seen it yet, though. They removed from the cinemas pretty soon, besides having a very good promotion (there was giant posters all over Madrid and even bigger ones in the subway, everywhere) apparently it was very unsuccesful so they took it out in a month or so. Hope you can break though that depression quickly, man. | |

| Damn, thats not a good sign although unsurprising. Wonder if they go through with a wide release here in the USA or direct to DVD instead. RED NAILS has been shelved, feels like 10 years since it was announced and in production. | |

| Strange they finally didn't realeased the RED NAILS, though. It was probably direct to DVD just like these HELLBOY cartoon movies wich had a common voice cast. Voices for RED NAILS had already been recorded, I think. It's normal to record the voices before doing the animation, today it's the way it's made.
Maybe they got out of budget with the animation, it's the only explanation.
Or maybe they are waiting for the new Conan movie to be released. Cartoons usually take advantage of the success of movies.
I don't know, that RED NAILS sounded like the most watchable of all the Conan projects that lately showed up...

| I dont know whats up with RED NAILS, Clancy Brown was replaced with Mark Hamil? The new CONAN movie stands a good chance of duding out big time. But atleast we'd have more junk fantasy to consume when we're down and out. | |

| No, I think both Hamill and Brown were on the baddies side; Clancy was the cacique of the city and Hamill a zombie. | |

| I finally watched the SK film.
Well... not good and not bad at the same time.
Best: Purefoy.
Worst: the script.
So, nothing I wouldn't spect to be honest.

| I saw it too. Not too sure what to make of it. It has a seen it before kinda feel and fairly generic script and lack of plot. Also the costumes are like out've Hercules and Xena or some shit. Some of the storyline reminded of "In the Name of the King", lol.
The script and character didnt seem very Howardian. Sometimes Solomon is overly dark and it is a bit cheesy or he's overly lighthearted, it is like they didnt know which way to go or just having a "Evil Dead" coupled with Helsing style parody. Was no characters I cared for in this movie. The main character lacked any real gravity. As a stand alone picture it is very meager but not bad as it is pretty fast paced.

| Yes and the character motivation for turning "goodie" is absolutely silly: he suddenly decides to turn good... just because he is afraid!!!! Nah, the story is absolutely zero Howardian... wich doesn't mean necessarily to be bad for that reason, it's bad because... well it's just a bad script. It could have been very Howardian and still being bad as shit. The explanation of his origin, is, uh... He is supposed to be a puritan, so that's why he dresses in black and wears that hat... But in the movie he takes that "official uniform" from a killed enemy! And he was also supposed to hunt demons because he is an OBSESSIVE and NEUROTIC puritan who wants to exterminate the evil from the world... Not because he is afraid of going to hell for being a bad boy. To me it's obvious this is a version for teenagers, with a character who acts, feels and thinks as a teenager. ________ With such a really bad script, I really admire Purefoy for having made such a great performance out of it. A worst actor would have just had a unnexpresive face all the way, and would have spit the lines furrowing his brow. This guy is a technique actor, so he surely created all that was missed in the script. I think he surely had a way better and more real idea of Solomon in his mind, than the unidimensional shit from the script. It's the only way he could hold the picture by his own as he has done. | |

We both know that they stole that directly from the shitty "CONSTANTINE" movie with Keanu Reeves. Also wtf the fuck was that lame ass slow moving Balrog imitation doing there at the end? - Quote :

| Saw the movie on DVD - tons of fun - very dark - very unusual protagonist (only doing good deeds because he's afraid of the devil getting his soul, no desire to be a "hero" at all ) - all in all: liked it a lot. Don't know how "true" to Howard it was - haven't read any Solomon Kane stories, BUT have just ordered a book from Amazon, so REH does live on! | |

You will find something pretty different on the book, my friend. The only common thing with the movie was the name of the character, and the clothing style. I suppose you are going to have Purefoy's image on your mind when you are visualizing Kane while reading. That's not a bad thing at all. Also you will probably have the movie's visual style too. Wich isn't bad either at all. But you will also find the movie was actually 0% based on the literature. And that the character on the book has a VERY DIFFERENT motivation than the guy in the film. In the books, he fights evil because he thinks he is a sort of "avenger angel", he is an obsessed puritan -funny enough, Kane is hiding from the Inquisition, another bunch of obsessed moralists who wants to exterminate puritans, think about intolerance against intolerance lol!-. Kane has a guilt for something he did on the past, but in the book what he did is never mentioned. He probably got nutz and killed somebody who was innocent. Now he searches for forgiveness exterminating evil creatures. But it's because he loves God and wants to be forgiven, not because he fears the devil and don't want to go to hell. LOL. That's pretty different. One is a faithful man, the other is just a selfish coward!!! LOL. And the Kane on the books, well that dude doesn't fear the devil at all. He's like the ultimate badass. The demons are actually scared of him, so much that they tell tales of Solomon Kane to the little devil babies at night.

| ...no - surely the demon parents say, "Watch out... or the Turd will get you!"
I'll let you know what I think when I've read some of the stories.
