The acting was bad, but i thought the action towards the end of the movie was exciting. People have their own opinons. It's a shame, they didn't get some good A-list actors for the movie. I thought Eddie the Sheriff's acting was completley crap.

That's nice, Dan, though one can enjoy movies which are bullshit. It happens sometimes, but one thing is enjoying it, other is being critic. Objectively, it's a very BAD movie, though it can be enjoyed. The point here is being critic as this is a movies forum -and concretely a Conan movie forum, but you can talk about other movies as long as there is some relation with Conan. Mmmmmkaaaaay?

BTW, I found this old southamerican "making of" the movie, and what Winston says is highly interesting: the PREDATOR was conceived as some kind of "DARK ARNOLD", like his "monstruous reflection", a deformed ARNOLD. Funny because the Predator is basically a barbarian with tech weapons. just like they have took the characters Arnold have been played in flms, mixed together, and then give him a monster look... Interesting also the main and basic look of the Predator is barbaric.
The concept is the same than in the scene of the mirrors in "THE DESTROYER", as the creature Conan fights there would be his "DARK REFLECTION".

They were supposed to have a Dutch and line of CTB action figures, but the licence to his likeness is always an issue.

Robert "myass" Rodriguez said he (besides one thousand other shitty projects more) has the intention of REMAKING "PREDATOR" this time with more than one and will call it PREDATORS.
so, anyone is still doubting this is the end of the times or what.

Silly shit, stupid shit, our dear ArnoldO has been asked to be included in the cast of the shitty Rodriguez's redux PREDATORSS.
The Austrian Fucker haven't asnwered yet.

"They've written a role for him. Rodriguez is as against the idea of a straight-up remake as much as anyone – which is why they're considering this an official sequel to John McTiernan's film. Like Terminator, they know Schwarzenegger's a vital ingredient of the franchise. Ideally, Arnold will see it that way too. Ball is in his court now."

Arnold was going to appear at the end of the first AvP shit:
Quote :
Q: Arnold Schwarzenegger was offered a cameo as Dutch at the end of the film but turned it down after winning his election. If he had appeared in the film, what was the proposed storyline?
A: It was confirmed by writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson that Schwarzenegger was going to reprise his role as Dutch and appear at the end of the film if he lost the California election, but since he won he turned down the role and was written out of the script. It is unknown how he was going to make his appearance.
One possible approach would have been to appear at the whaling station to investigate the loss of communication with the Weyland team and the explosion at the whaling station. Since he was the leader of a rescue team in Predator, he would have probably arrived at the whaling station and found Lex after her meeting with the Predator tribe, and probably would've taken her back to the boat.
An alternate theory: originally, in Predator 2 the role of Peter Keyes was actually supposed to be Dutch Schaeffer who is now part of an elite unit whose specific duty was to track and try to capture the Predator. This was changed because Arnold turned down the role because he didn't like the idea of taking the Predator into the city.
So likely his cameo would have re-envisioned this role. Either Lex being rescued by him and his team while they were trying to track the Predators or something along those lines.

Thats every fan boys dream. But AvP was a lackluster film and storyline to begin with. Also Arnold was a Special Ops major back in 1987 and one would factor out PREDATOR 2's story of 10 or more years ahead and his absence. So he wouldve been retired or behind a desk.
AvP was loosely based on teh COLDWAR series, where Dutch's brother takes on the Preds.

Yeah, there was a previous series which was the base for the PREDATOR 2 movie, where twin Dutch was the main character and fought a bunch of predators in LA.
The AVP was also loosely based on the first AVP comic series, with a Japanese chick as main character who becomes a sort of she-predator and allies with one just like in the movie. The comic was way better though, as it respected a lot the "Alien" atmosphere and rythm, and the predators were really bad asses, agiles and dangerous, like samurais.

Yeah, the original Darkhorse series was set not LA but NY I believe, while the COLD WAR storyline took place after and in Antarctic.

I think you are right
The AVP comic was set on an alien planet, colonized by humans who raised some kind of bizarre cattle. Humans didn't know the xenomorphs neither the predators, and the events appear to happen at some point between the first "Alien" (similar tech) and "Aliens".
It indeed explained the whole "Alien" origin by itself (raised by the Preds, as sport) and could see as an alternate universe. The comic totally respected the movies' canon, though (uncannily something the stupid AVP film didn't).
The AVP was the first "Alien" movie set in the Earth. Changed the set from the comics by the very same reason the "Masters of the Universe" did the same: IT'S MOTHERFUCKING CHEAPER. Still the idea wasn't bad at all, mixed H.P.Lovecraft's setting ("At the Mountains of Madness") with Aliens and Predator. The first "Alien" movie of Scott had already been using a similar Lovecraftian setting, so it could have worked. It didn't though... unless you see the AVP movie as a "kaiju eiga" flick with a lot of references to Alien and Predator, but it simply can't work as a prequel in any way

Some people has been able to read the Robert Rodriguez script for "PREDATORS" and, well, really, do I have to say how it smells?
Thing is, apparently there is a part written specially for SCHWARZENEGGER:
SPOILERZ:
Royce is a tough guy who one day is abducted by the Predators and after some usual anal tests he is taken to the Predators planet. There he is thrown into a weird jungle.
There he finds another 7 human beings (a tough chick among them -Madonna?? -), all from different countries and armed with all kind of weapons.
Hunting session starts and the Predators start hunting these guys USING "PREDATOR DOGS" and "PREDATOR HAWKS" and leaded by a black SuperPredator described with steroids even in his ass.
The group of humans must try to find a 9th man, an American who was captured long ago and has survived the Predators till now. He is hidden somewhere in the jungle.
Also they discover this abductions has been happening since birth of mankind, and that now the Predators plan to end with the human race.

That really does sound weak. SO did Danny Glover mutate into a Predator because the Predator's blood from the 2nd film contaminated him?

It's a turn back to the film "THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME" (1932) that inspired the first "Predator" movie. It's about an evil guy called ZAROFF who kidnapes people in his island, let them free in the jungle, and go hunt them with bow and arrow. In the movie, the main character turns out to be a badass and finally is Zaroff who is hunt.
The storyline was copied A HUNDRED of times after that, see: "A Game of Death" (1945), "Bloodlust!" (1961), "The Woman Hunt" (1973), "Turkey Shoot" (1982), "Surviving the Game" (1994)[1] and "The Pest" (1997). Also was used in several TV show episodes, comic books, etc etc.
So, wtf is Rodriguez thinking about when he decides to use it AGAIN? Oh, yeah, sorry, word "originality" is not in use anymore in Hollywood. Damn bastard... See, Tarantino is anything but original, he is even copying HIMSELF, but the inglurious motherfucker at least is good. Rodriguez is unnoriginal, and bad. What a combo
